As severe weather becomes more frequent and intense, it’s more important than ever to be prepared. That’s why Severe Weather Preparedness Week was just observed from March 7th to 13th in many states across the US.
The week kicked off with a “tornado drill” on March 9th, which encouraged people to practice taking shelter in a safe place in case of a tornado warning. Many schools, businesses, and government buildings participated in the drill.
Throughout the week, various events and resources were available to help people prepare for different types of severe weather such as floods, hurricanes, and wildfires. These included online seminars, emergency preparedness kits, and informative articles and videos.
It’s crucial to be prepared for severe weather because it can happen anywhere and at any time. By having a plan and necessary supplies on hand, you can increase your chances of staying safe and avoiding damage to your property.
As the planet continues to warm and extreme weather becomes more common, it’s not a question of if you’ll experience severe weather, but when. So take some time to review your emergency plan and stock up on supplies during Severe Weather Preparedness Week or anytime throughout the year. Your safety and well-being may depend on it.
