Climate change may be making turbulence a lot worse : NPR

Hey there! I came across a really interesting article on NPR about how climate change is affecting turbulence during flights. Basically, researchers have found that turbulence is becoming more frequent and severe due to the warming of the Earth, which is causing changes in the jet stream wind patterns. This means more bumpy flights and potentially more injuries for passengers and crew.

What I found particularly interesting was that the study found that areas that are prone to turbulence, such as over the North Atlantic, are experiencing even more turbulence than before. I’ve flown over the North Atlantic before, and I can definitely attest to the fact that it can be a pretty bumpy ride.

But it’s not just about making flights uncomfortable. The increase in turbulence also has implications for flight safety and the additional fuel that airlines may need to use to avoid turbulence. Plus, as someone who cares about the environment, it’s alarming to see yet another way that climate change is impacting our daily lives.

Overall, this article really drove home the fact that climate change is not just an abstract or far-off concern, but something that’s affecting us right now. It’s a reminder that we need to take action, both as individuals and as a society, to address the issue and protect ourselves and the planet.
