Climate change needs to be addressed...and soon, most Americans say — CBS News poll

As climate change continues to ravage our planet, new polls reveal that most Americans believe it’s high time for action to be taken. A recent CBS News poll found that 80% of Americans believe that climate change poses a serious threat, with 54% believing immediate action needs to be taken. The poll also found that while opinions on climate change have long been divided along political lines, even a majority of Republicans stated that climate change is at least a somewhat serious problem. Additionally, the same number of Americans believe that the effects of climate change are already being felt - with more extreme weather, melting glaciers, and shrinking ice caps. As the nation reels from recent natural disasters like Hurricane Ida, the urgency of addressing these issues head-on couldn’t be more evident. It’s time for the nation to band together to seek ways to mitigate the effects of climate change before it’s too late. The effects of climate change will continue to become undeniable, and it’s up to us to work towards a sustainable future.
