Extreme weather tests a small community's self-reliance

Oh man, I just read this crazy article about a small community that got hit with some extreme weather and had to rely completely on themselves to survive. Basically, there was a huge storm that knocked out all the power and flooded the roads, so they couldn’t get any supplies from outside. But these people were super self-reliant and had their own gardens and animals to feed themselves.

It was really inspiring to read about how they came together and made do with what they had. One family even used their old-school hand-cranked wheat grinder to make bread, since they couldn’t go to the store to buy any.

It reminded me of when I went camping with just a few friends a few years ago, and we completely ran out of food on the second day. We ended up fishing in the nearby stream and foraging for berries and nuts, and it was really satisfying to have to rely on ourselves and the land around us.

Anyway, I think this article is a great reminder that we don’t always need to rely on outside sources to survive. It’s important to have our own skills and resources, just in case something like this happens. Plus, it’s pretty cool to know that we have the ability to take care of ourselves without any help sometimes.
