I just read this article about how the recent floods in Port Everglades are making it impossible for fuel trucks to get to their destinations. This is screwing over a lot of gas stations, which are being forced to close down and leave drivers stranded. Apparently, the water level is so high that trucks can’t even get close to the loading docks.
Now, I’m no expert when it comes to massive flooding, but this sounds like a pretty big issue to me. I mean, drivers need gas to get around, and if there’s no gas available, that’s going to cause all sorts of problems. On top of that, gas prices are likely to go up because of the shortage, and nobody wants to pay more at the pump than they already do.
The article doesn’t say how long this is expected to go on, but I’m guessing it could be a while before things start to improve. In the meantime, it’s probably a good idea to try to conserve as much gas as possible and maybe look into alternative modes of transportation if you can.
Overall, this is a pretty sobering reminder that natural disasters can have far-reaching consequences that we don’t always think about. It’s important to be prepared for the unexpected and to have a plan in place for emergencies.
