It's Severe Weather Preparedness Week. Here's what you need to keep in mind this summer

I read this interesting article about Severe Weather Preparedness Week and it got me thinking about how unprepared I am for emergency situations. Apparently, with climate change causing more and more extreme weather conditions, it’s important to have a plan in place before disaster strikes.

The article lists several things you should keep in mind this summer, including creating an emergency kit with essentials like water, non-perishable food, and a first-aid kit. It also recommends having a family plan in place, like designating a safe meeting place and making sure everyone knows what to do in case of an emergency.

As someone who once got stuck in a subway station during a freak summer thunderstorm, I can say firsthand that being caught off guard can be pretty scary. I wish I had been more prepared with a plan or emergency kit back then.

Overall, I think this article serves as an important reminder to always be ready for the unexpected. It’s easy to think that extreme weather won’t happen to us, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. So take some time this week to create an emergency plan and kit - it could make all the difference.
