So I just read this article about New York City’s vegan mayor issuing a new decree that’s kinda interesting. Basically, he’s proposing that the city consume less meat as a way of fighting climate change. Apparently, the meat industry produces a ton of carbon emissions, so cutting down on meat consumption is one way to reduce our carbon footprint.
The article talks about how this new mandate could affect the city’s schools, hospitals, and prisons, all of which would have to reduce the amount of meat they serve to meet the new guidelines. Personally, I think it’s a good idea. I mean, I’m not a vegetarian or anything, but I try to eat meatless meals a few times a week just to do my part. Plus, there are so many tasty vegan and vegetarian options out there these days!
I also thought it was interesting that this is coming from a vegan mayor. I mean, I admire the guy for sticking to his principles, but honestly, I don’t know if I could ever give up cheese. Overall, though, I think it’s important that we all start thinking about ways we can reduce our impact on the environment. Whether that means cutting back on meat, driving less, or buying more eco-friendly products, every little bit helps.
So what do you think? Are you willing to give up your meat-eating ways to save the planet? Or are you like me and just trying to find more ways to be a little more sustainable in your day-to-day life?
