So, I read this article about how the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is predicting a “near-normal” hurricane season this year. At first, I was relieved because I live in a coastal area, but then I realized that “near-normal” means we could still be potentially facing a lot of damage and destruction.
Basically, NOAA is forecasting about 9-15 named storms, 4-8 hurricanes and 2-4 major hurricanes. This is actually not too far off from the average hurricane season, so it’s not exactly good news. In fact, it’s important that we all take hurricane preparedness seriously and make sure we have a plan in place in case of emergency.
Personally, I’ve been through a few hurricanes and it’s not a joke. One time, I remember having to evacuate and feeling so anxious about whether I had everything I needed. It’s definitely better to be safe than sorry, and I’ll definitely be making sure I’m ready for whatever comes our way this year.
Overall, it’s important to stay informed about the hurricane season, especially if you live in areas prone to hurricanes. Make sure you’re watching the news and tracking any potential storms, and take all the necessary precautions to keep you and your loved ones safe.
