SLIDESHOW - Mercer County gets hit with flash floods on Memorial Day

As the long Memorial Day weekend came to a close, the residents in Mercer County, NJ were hit with a surprise. Thunderstorms rolled in and caused flash floods to hit the area, leaving many residents scrambling to protect their homes.

The flash floods hit Mercer County in the afternoon hours of Memorial Day, causing several rivers to overflow and create flooding in various towns. Photos of the devastation show water levels reaching up to car windows and entire homes underwater.

Emergency responders were quick to act, rescuing residents from flooded homes and cars. The flooding caused road closures and power outages, leaving many without electricity during the severe weather.

This unexpected flood serves as a reminder to always be prepared for the possibility of severe weather. It’s important to have a plan in place in case of a flood emergency, including knowing evacuation routes and having an emergency kit.

Although the rain has stopped and the water has receded, the aftermath of the flood will be felt for many months to come. It’s important for the community to come together and support one another during these difficult times.
