SOLAS: Weather preparedness and your pets

So I read this article called SOLAS: Weather preparedness and your pets and it was super interesting. Basically, it talks about how important it is to include your furry friends in your emergency preparedness plan.

The article explains that during natural disasters, like hurricanes or floods, people often forget to make a plan for their pets. But, just like us, our pets need to have a safe and secure place to go in case of an emergency.

The SOLAS agreement, which is an international safety code for ships, actually has specific regulations in place for pet safety during passage. It recommends that pets have access to food, water, and shelter during the journey. The article suggests that pet owners follow that same protocol when it comes to emergency preparedness at home.

Now, I don’t have any pets myself, but my sister has two adorable dogs, and I know she’s always worried about what to do in the event of a natural disaster. After reading this article, though, I think I’m going to recommend she make a plan with her neighbors or pet-friendly hotels in case they need to evacuate.

Overall, this article was a great reminder to not forget about our furry friends when it comes to emergency preparedness. They rely on us to keep them safe, and it’s important that we do everything we can to include them in our plans.
