Stephanie Kane’s book explores climate change via river-city flooding

So, I just read this really interesting article about climate change and flooding in cities. It’s all about how author Stephanie Kane explores the topic in her book.

Basically, the book looks at how rising sea levels and extreme weather can cause city rivers to flood, devastating communities around the globe. Kane takes us on a journey through different rivers and different cities impacted by flooding, from New Orleans to Jakarta.

The article mentions that Kane uses personal experiences and interviews to shed light on the human toll of these disasters. And that’s what really resonated with me. I remember seeing the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy in New York City first-hand, and it was heartbreaking.

What I found really fascinating was how Kane argues that climate change makes flooding worse, but it’s not the only factor. She also highlights how poor planning and urban development can exacerbate the effects of flooding.

Overall, I think this article and Kane’s book are important reminders of the urgency of the climate crisis. We need to take action to mitigate the effects of rising sea levels and extreme weather, and make sure our cities are resilient against future disasters.
