Top fossil fuel companies responsible for over one third of area burned by wildfires across western North America

So, I came across this crazy article today about how some of the biggest fossil fuel companies are responsible for over one third of the wildfires that have destroyed western North America. Like, who knew they were literally burning up the planet?

Basically, the study found that 10 companies, including infamous ones like BP and Chevron, are linked to 35% of the burned area between 1980 and 2018. That’s insane! And it’s not just the direct impact of their emissions, but also things like land use and management practices that contribute to the problem.

It’s kind of like with smoking - we all know it’s bad for us, but we still do it anyways. These companies know that fossil fuels are causing climate change, but they keep on pumping them out anyways. It’s just mind-boggling.

Personally, I’ve seen the effects of climate change firsthand. I’m from California, and the wildfires here have been getting worse every year. It’s scary to think that these companies are making it even worse.

Overall, the article really highlights the importance of addressing the root causes of climate change and shifting towards renewable energy sources. It’s not just about protecting the environment, but also about protecting ourselves and future generations from the devastating effects of climate change.
